My name is Jake Buckingham and I'm an experienced documentary filmmaker, cinematographer, photographer and designer based in Omaha, Nebraska in the Central United States. With more than 20 years of experience, I have directed, edited and produced content for documentaries, television specials, and independent film projects. Some of my clients are among the most recognizable brands in the television, media, corporate and entertainment spaces including Oprah Winfrey (The Oprah Podcast), ABC News, ITV Studios, REELZ TV, Facebook, TEDx, The Salvation Army and more.

I started Journey Light Visuals from a simple but deeply held belief: every person, every organization, and every place has a story — and that story is shaped by its journey. After more than two decades of working across television, nonprofit, and public-sector storytelling, I saw how often important stories were rushed, flattened, or lost in the noise. Journey Light Visuals was founded to slow down, listen deeper, and bring intention back to the creative process — honoring not just what is being said, but why it matters.

As an immigrant-founded, immigrant-led agency, our perspective is informed by lived experience, cultural awareness, and a deep respect for stories of identity, resilience, and belonging. That lens influences how we approach every project — with empathy, care, and an understanding that mission-driven organizations and professionals carry an important responsibility: they build trust and relationships with the people and communities they serve.
